About Us
Rays of Sunshine SCC is a non-profit organization located in Sun City Center, Florida with the goal of making Valentine’s Day special for widows.
Our Story
Inspired by an organization called Widows Outreach in Charlotte, NC, Kathleen Zegras organized a group of friends & in April 2025 established Rays of Sunshine SCC to become a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. During our 2025 launch year, fund-raising efforts focused on local businesses & charitable organizations. We were also very grateful to receive private donations. The overall generosity shown, combined with the welcome support of friends & family, was truly overwhelming. Committee members then nominated widows to receive a Valentine’s floral arrangement. On February 12, 2026, with the help of forty-four cheerful volunteers, floral bouquet gift boxes were delivered to ninety-eight widows in our community.
Our Mission
Our mission is to show caring for widows in the community by gifting them with Valentine’s Day flowers. We acknowledge the absence of one’s spouse may especially be felt during an occasion that was once a source of joy. With the goal of brightening Valentine’s Day, Rays of Sunshine SCC delivers volunteer-created floral arrangements to nominated widows in our neighborhood.
